As always in autumn and right after the high holidays of New Year and Yom Kippur, we celebrate the third harvest festival in the Jewish year.

In the Sukkah of the Synagogue Community of Constance we meet on Sunday, September 26th, from 3 to 5 p.m. and celebrate Sukkot together - the Feast of Tabernacles. We enjoy the third harvest of the various autumn fruits, we think of the 40-year desert wandering of the Jewish people after receiving the Torah on Mount Sinai and we remember what it is like to live in the midst of nature.

We celebrate the hospitality that should unite all people, because we all share a planet that we have received as an inheritance for ourselves and our children. And, as always, we have special guests in the sukkah, the tabernacle. This year a magician visits us and shows us what he can do.

Together with Sylvia Schliebe from the liberal Jewish community Chawurah Gescher Freiburg and members of the synagogue community in Konstanz, we will discuss the many meanings of this festival.
There is also a Sukkot story and a coloring book for younger children, which were made available by the nationwide initiative "1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany". A festival of harvest and creation must of course also be celebrated with food.
