"Late Diary"

From the memories of Max Mannheimer (1920 - 2016)

Reading with Michael Stacheder

Max Mannheimer suffered everything that could happen to a person in the inferno unleashed by the Germans: humiliation, displacement, internment in the ghetto, death of almost the entire family in the gas chamber, labor camp and concentration camp, hunger, illness and abuse. Miraculously, he survived hell. Mannheimer did not talk about what he had experienced for a long time. Only when he mistakenly believed his death was imminent did he decide to record what he had suffered for those who would be born later.

Michael Stacheder is a director for drama and music theater.
