"Addressee unknown", published for the first time in 1938 in the 'New Yorker Story Magazine', is a literary masterpiece of oppressively topicality. Designed as an exchange of letters between a German and an American Jew in the months before Hitler came to power, this novel depicts the dramatic development of a friendship in moving simplicity.
The Lautwärts ensemble (Julia Katterfeld, Frank Streichfuss and Andreas Geyer) combines words and music, brings literature to the stage, makes what is written tangible and the inexpressible audible.
