Series of events on the occasion of 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany
Jewish life on Lake Constance
Lecture with discussion
Speaker: HELMUT FIDLER, historian and book author
Helmut Fidler has been dealing with the history of the Jews in the Lake Constance area for many years, he leads courses, gives lectures and organizes tours along the Untersee in Germany and Switzerland to places of Jewish life and culture.
The Jewish living space was always on both sides of Lake Constance, it stretches from Vorarlberg to Endingen in Aargau, from Zurich to Konstanz and Überlingen
Jewish history is the story of a minority, it tells of exclusion and displacement, but also of integration and coexistence with Christian neighbors.
Our respect and recognition is due, above all, to the perception of the long membership and great achievements of Jewish citizens. Together we therefore want to make Jewish life today and its 800-year history on Lake Constance visible and tangible!
At the same time, it is very important today to counteract the resurgent anti-Semitism in Europe.
